Champlain were declared winners of the Club Tropicana Cup on 1 June, with ‘Most Valuable Player’ awarded to 1 goal player Florencio Lanusse.
Four teams took part in the event, which ultimately saw Champlain win 6.5-3 against Madeva, winning their patron a celebratory meal at the Braywood restaurant.
La Vanguardia, maker of handmade personalised head collars, sponsored the ‘Best Playing Pony’ award, which went to Nacho Gonzalez’ Kenya.
Formerly the Pemberton & Clark Trophy, the event was renamed this year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club (RCBPC), as founder Bryan Morrison published the band behind the famous song Club Tropicana, Wham!
Nell Jacob, polo manager at RCBPC, said: “The teams played a hard fought match on our beautiful ground 1 followed by a brilliant evening of cocktails and dancing in the Clubhouse – congratulations to Champlain as well as all the teams who took part.”
